Physical Safety and Security at Demonstrations or Protests

Tear gas is being increasingly used by cops at rallies, protests, and demonstrations...
Wear proper PPE like: P100 respirators, masks, heat resistant gloves, ear protection, eye protection, long sleeves and pants.

If tear gas is deployed on you, remember to keep your breath calm, the more you respirate, the more you ingest. Cover your face to prevent any potential increase in irritation or ingestion. Let others know there is gas. Stay together. And if possible and safe cover and smother the canister with wet cloth, traffic cones, or metal pots/pans/lids.

To Decontamiate: Clean clothing and skin with 10-25% Dawn dish soap + 75-90% water in a spray bottle. Rinse with a pure water water bottle. Wipe with an uncontamiated sources: cloth, paper towels, etc.
Focus on areas most exposed, and strip outer layers of clothing if possible.
Cleanse eyes/mucus membranes with 0.9% saline solution or clean water. Flush eyes corner to corner. Tilt head, keep eyes open, let drip downward.
